"Get Moving in Dalston" links Hackney's local networks with Time to Change's national campaign to challenge the stigma, discrimination and exclusion experienced by people affected by mental health issues.
Get Moving Week from 2-11 October, aims to challenge stigma by bringing people together in a fun way to understand the reality about mental health issues, not the myths.
Last year more than 300 Get Moving Week events took place across the country, involving 130 local organisations including Councils, NHS Trusts and PCTs, and National Partners such as Natural England and BT.
Get Moving events use fun physical activities to bring people together and to promote better awareness of the links between mental health and well-being for all.
This year's event in Gillett Square will offer opportunities to take part in Aerobics, Qi Gong and Pilates sessions, a Bollywood dance workshop, and an interactive movement-based theatre performance.
"Get Moving in Dalston" is supported by East London NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with NHS City and Hackney, the London Borough of Hackney, Family Mosaic, Hackney Cooperative Developments, Gillett Square, The Vortex, Studio Upstairs London, Downstairs at the Vortex, Core Arts, Peter Bedford Housing, Off Centre, Talking Matters, Shoreditch Spa, Age Concern Hackney, Hackney Carers Centre, Derman, GLL, and the TLC Stroke Project.
