Gillett Square reverberated all afternoon to the sounds of six steel bands with participants from schools and community groups from all over the East End of London playing in friendly competition. Dalston-based carnival group Tropical Isles provided a huge dash of colour on a hot summer's day, creating a great vibe in the square with their fabulous costumes.
Blocorama was produced with Newham Steel Band organisers and managed by Gillett Squared with funding from the Big Lottery Fund's 'Awards for All' scheme.
Gillett Squared is the management group led by Hackney Co-operative Developments for arts and enterprise projects on Gillett Square.
