Saturday May 25th – Dalston Children’s Festival
We’re proud to be part of the summer-long festival celebrating all the fun things Dalston has to offer. There’s loads of stuff happening on May 25th all over Dalston – check it out here www.dalstonchildren.org

Total Play in Gillett Square 12-6pm
The best fun day out in Dalston for the whole family, we have physical and mental games from around the world. Whoever you are, Whatever your age we have a game you will love playing. We challenge you to PLAY and have FUN.
Board Games from around the world & street games presented by Universal Board Games with Gillett Square’s own weird and wonderful “Snug” play shapes, Table Tennis, Table football and Giant Chess. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to play – there will be experts on site to teach you the basics, share their tips or even challenge you! Come along with family and friends and enjoy playing together. You can also get great food and drinks from the Vortex Downstairs café.
Big and Small: Vortex 10-2pm get together with older and younger musicians to create a brand new piece of music and then perform it in Dalston Square with the Lost Picture Show workshop.
Stalls in Gillett Square 12-6pm:
Threads: Local youngsters present their own hand-made fashion creations
Herb bag making with visitors from the Geffrye Museum
Book reading with Usborne Books
La Pajara Pinta and Yoga sessions at Go Fit Studio

Sunday 16th June – 12-6pm African Market with Open the Gate
After a successful Christmas market, Open the Gate African craft traders return to Gillett Square for the first in a series of occasional Sunday Markets.
Saturday 13th July - 2pm til midnight Dance Nations Dalston
Dalston’s favourite day of music, dance and film returns again thanks to a great partnership with the Barbican.
Friday 27th September: Night Contact
Join us in the square and adjoining venues for a celebration of photography with projections.

June 24th - July 30th: Street Piano
This year we're happy to host a Street Piano in collaboration with City
of London Festival. Music has always had a special place in the square
and this year will be no exception. Lessons and piano-focussed events
to be announced.
June 29th - 26th July: Ping London
We're proud to take part in the London-wide PingPong blowout once again.
Get involved in round-the-table, leagues and general pinging fun
July 3rd, 4th and 5th: London
International Youth Circus
From 4-6pm their will be circus-esque workshops and performances for anybody
and everybody
Sunday 15th July: Spoken
Word Workshop
14-16yr olds are invited to partake in this unique poetry ping pong event
from 3pm. Speak poetically in time with the pinging and ponging of the
bat.
Saturday July 21st: Dance
Nations Dalston
Our annual collaboration with the Barbican continues - music and dance
from the world and Hackney as part of the Olympic Torch Relay Day
Saturday September 22nd: VORTEX OUTDOORS
Vortex celebrates in 25th Anniversary with a free all-day music festival
of Vortex performers old and new.
Saturday September 29th: Drumming in The Square
The Vortex is commissioning nearly 30 drummers to bring their drum sets
into the square and perform something not to dissimilar from the infamous
77 Boardrum in which the Boredoms played with 77 drummers in NY on 07/07/2007.
