Winter Illuminations

For the winter festive season, Studio Upstairs were commissioned to create some decorations for the trees.
The response by artist Rose Hall brought an urban edge to the notion of Christmas decorations with some extraordinary sculptural pigeons, which were created with a team of artists and volunteers in Studio Upstairs’s workshop above the Vortex Jazz Club. These pigeons were to be found perched in the trees on the square’s stage.
The lighting for this installation was designed by Peter Wynne-Wilson, who also lit HCD’s second floor balcony and Bradbury Street’s shops.
